That's how I always heard it referred to  ie  "Job Insurance"   on the CB&Q...Seems like everybody had it.

The B&O Railroad Museum celebrated the opening of the Luther G. Smith Plaza, named for the founder of the Brotherhood's Relief & Compensation Fund. 

The Brotherhood's Relief & Compensation Fund is better known as "fire insurance". Have a railroader explain it to you!
