Pullman was most certainly NOT out of business!

The 1948 Divestiture split the Pullman-Standard company into two major entities - the car building (Pullman-Standard) and the car operating (Pullman Co.).   The cars that were owned were offered for sale to the constituent companies.  Most were then leased back to Pullman to run a reorganized Pool.   The LWs were mostly operated by Pullman for their constituent roads outside the pool (i.e., within the pervue of the RR instead of Pullman).  Pullman was operating (and, for that matter, building) cars well past 1956.

From my CRI&P passenger book, "In May, 1956, the Zephyr-Rocket's sleepers were upgraded to a pair of Rock Island 6-6-4 cats, ***. Burlington, meanwhile, furnished a pair of 6-section, 6-double bedroom modernized heavy-weights named Poplar Branch and Poplar Flat. To privide a better match with the rest of the equipment, the CB&Q cars were painted silver with "shadow-like" accents."

This reference is what throws my decalling into a tizzy. Pullman is out of business but the "Q" still has these heavyweights in service. So do we decal with PULLMAN or BURLINGTON in the letterboard and Poplar Branch/Flat on the side?

Model Railroading gets to be so much fun!
