Paul,

You and a lot of other people for Zephyr Tower!  Rumor has it TomSchneid  from NKP Car is looking at bringing out a kit for these "betterment" 8-3-1 cars.  The biggest challenges are the "turtle" roof and the skirting.

Rich

Rich,

Thank you very much. That is what I needed. Since I am modeling September 1959, I do want to be as accurate as I can be. PULLMAN it is then. Now if I can figure a way for Zephyr Tower to be added to the mix.......Paul Buhrkre.

In your case, because the sleeper was painted in the improved shadow-stripe scheme, you would want "PULLMAN" in the black Zephyr-style lettering with the car name below in the same style. Champ made these decals and I think some of the Micro Scale sets have this available, as well.

The "PULLMAN" has been painted out, and the CB&Q and car number has replaced the name - which the Q did after removing a car from Pullman lease. The car still retains the shadow striping, though.

Burlington, meanwhile, furnished a pair of 6-section, 6-double bedroom modernized heavy-weights named Poplar Branch and Poplar Flat. To privide a better match with the rest of the equipment, the CB&Q cars were painted silver with "shadow-like" accents."
