In arriving, they would come in engine first. After all had exited, the switchers would pull the cars, turn and wash them, then take them to the 14th steet coachyard. for cleaning, etc. When the train would be placed in CUS for loading, it would be backed in, either by switcher, or by road power, depending on express/RPO requirements. CUS was a stub ended station except for two tracks that were used to get over to the North side (mostly used by the PRR.)
