From: HOL WAGNER The simple fact is the SD40s and U30Cs were acquired for use on the C&S and FW&D, and they were only on the roster 2 to 2-1/2 years before the merger. It was 1969 before they began to occasionally wander onto the Q, going as far east as Lincoln, either straight from Denver or down from Laurel. In return, Q second generation B-B units began to appear on the C&S-FW&D. After the merger the C&S units could be found on just about any BN mainline. . Did the C&S SD40s ever wander onto the CB&Q proper - for example, to Council Bluffs, IA or onto the Denver - Chicago route ? I'm thinking of the period before the BN takeover. Any information or source references would be much appreciated. Off-list replies would be great, if anyone can help. Pete Molloy. Scotland, U.K. ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
