Not my area of expertise, but I have some evidence 
I have added a folder IRM equipment in photos 
Current photos are of Silver Ridge pre-Amtrak.
A number board in the end door
A number board in the side panel below the bathroom window
My recall also is of a number on the car door itself, I will check my memory
tomorrow and if true will try to get a photo

I am currently adding decals to my TCZ, so have been looking at quite a few
photos recently.  Like Charlie, I have yet to see any photos that show any
visible car numbers (or anything on the side doors, for that matter).

Seems to me that the car number appeared above the door or near the top of
it. The car name was on the door below the window. I looked through my
photos and did not find any pictures to prove it, however. Charlie Vlk
