Pete - Thanks for sharing your stories!  While I post-date you by a few 
years, I am very familiar with the area you describe having worked 
the "extra-board" all the way from Firth to Forrest City as a TO (as 
well as Carling, Baird, Cushman, K-Street and the "Hump").  This was 
near the end of the last "dark" territory on the BN (former "Q" to 
qualify for this board), shortly before the Frisco took over!  

Now, as a retired Pol. Sci. professor, I still look back at those days 
and remember them as the "best job" I ever held.  Thanks, again, for 
sharing and, hopefully, you will continue to regale us with your 
memories!
