I can't think of any "F" marker plates on CB&Q equipment. Some railroads used
them (or cutout metal letters) but not many.
I also think application of Builders Plates to B units was inconsistent...at
least they don't show up in EMD builders photos for
some batches of units. They can be on the carbody or on the fuel tank skirt
when they do.

Builders plates where attached at the factory by EMD
Not positive about model plates, but my guess is also at factory
The "F" marker on a locomotive is a government requirement ( ICC now FRA ),
it denotes the front of the locomtive for reporting purposes, such as "Left # 3
brakeshoe not in line with tread" or "Right rear sander inoperative". It
doesn't matter which end the "F" is on it just has to be there.
