Hi Mike,

It wasn't so much the smell, but what was making the smell.  I can't 
imagine what the interior of a hide service car, especially one lined 
with wood, would soak up.  I believe there was an AAR prohibition 
against using hide cars for any other lading, even rough freight, 
unless the interior was replaced.
