This matches the story I heard. The whistle on the Boone & Scenic
Valley 2-8-2 was from the Hudson that was auctioned off near Atlantic,
Iowa. The Illinois Railway Museum bought the locomotive.
By the way, I never received Bill Barber's post that included the
question about this. It appears that I'm getting some posts from this
list, but not others.... Why would that be? - Don

That Boone & Scenic Valley whistle on the Chinese 2-8-2 may have been off
that 3000-series Hudson that was with the set of streamlined lightweight
passenger cars along the interstate highway at Atlantic, Iowa. A
birdhouse
manufacturer (!) collected a set of cars and a locomotive to start his
own museum. I
think that's all been sold off and cleaned out by now. Nubes
