That could well be possible. When #3007 was auctioned off the whistle was
auctioned off separatley from the locomotive! If I recall, IRM didn't get the
whistle to go along with the Hudson that they purchased(and the IRM story
behind the purchase of the engine is another soap opera).
A while back I was reading old issues of Railfan and Railroad I think and
they had a write-up on the auction of #3007. One of the bidders on this engine
was Jerry Jacobson, the man behind the Ohio Central (owners of the fully
restored Grand Trunk 4-8-4 #6325). Interesting to think of what #3007 might
have
become if Jacobson would have been the high bidder.
