To All:
Here is what I really like about this list. . .I am not a railroader and I am
not old enough to know the CB&Q, but I can get answers to questions here.
I have been reading through the "CB&Q in Color #4". These are great books.
The captions have a lot information in them. In reading these, I would like to
know what a "Way Freight" is? Like in the "Rock Falls way Freight" or the
"Streator Stock and Merchandise Way Freight".
Also, for those of you who have this book, on page 71 there is an awesome
photograph of a GP-7 crossing the Rock River. Along the left of the tracks are
three pipes that lead out on to the bridge and follow the tracks. What are
these pipes for? I noticed that there are telephone phone poles next to the
pipe with wires on them. I wouldn't think that the pipes are electricity or
phone lines. I have noticed similar pipes running along the track side in the
top photograph on page 74. If anything, are they related to the railroad?
