I am greatly disturbed about all this talk of RR Days being dead and
the related negativity thus generated. I would not want any of the
readers of this list to think that Galesburg's RR Days is no longer
worth coming to. Surely the fact that there is no longer any 1/1th
scale rolling stock to climb on or no longer any yard tours being given
diminish what still exists in RR Days.

It is true that there was a quiet at the depot this year. Without the
exhibits and displays that we have all grown used to seeing, there was
a diffent mood. But it is unfair to say that the event is "Dead".

Did none of you spend any time at the museum tent? Maybe once inside
you talked a bit more with William Franckey or Ron Hatch on things CBQ?
Did none of you spend time talking with any musuem staff (many Q
employees among them)? I'll bet you heard some rather ambitious plans
for next year from them right? Did you take a bit more time looking
over the locomotive control stand in the tent? Did you more closely
focus on the 3006, waycar, and RPO still on the former depot grounds?
Did you not take take a second look at the "Meath" museum car? Suely
you spent more time railfaning about town? More time spent near Cameron
or in Peck Park? More time on Thirwell bridge watching things train in
the yard below? Did you meet some new railfans and enthusiasts? I'll
bet then you at least spent a bit more time at the train show. Did you
not see more dealers? Did you then spend more time going over those
1000s of depot photographs? Did you talk with Dave Lotz, people from
RITS, or the CNWHS? Ok, well then you had more time to sample the food
around town. Did you see the train related diplays in some of the
downtown windows?

NO?!?

I did these things and had lots to see and do.

Maybe you misssed something?

Dead? I did not have time to notice.
