Hello Mike,
The trip in the Quad Cities started at Davenport, Iowa's Union
Station. I was a child of 5 and my father took me om the ride because he
knew I liked trains. The trip went across the Cresent Bridge through Rock
Island, Ill. and wyed somewhere. I don't know where but would guess either
Barstow or Denrock. I have a couple minutes of home movie(now on video) of
the trip somewhere.
One of the things I remember most about the trip was when we returned
to Davenport. They pushed stairs up to the locomotive and allowed people
climb up in the cab. I remember seeing the fire in the firebox and would
not go near 4960(at 5 I understood that I shouldn't play around fire!).
Now what I wouldn't give to have that chance again.
I hope these memories help with your research.
