Leo,

You are right on target. I'd say it started about in March. While I've been
on Medical Leave for a while by August there were Symboled trains running
around with between 20 and 40 cars, in some case mostly empties.

Sometimes I think that there are some people that are trying to create the
illusion that things are really busy to cover up other flaws. It's pretty
typical that there are more locomotives required to handle less business.
The usual deal, the Mechanical Dept. closes facilities, (Interbay this time),
so you are taking units out of storage to replace bad orders.

There have also been incidents of stored units being put back in service
to cover only one or two trains because trains were being held out of
Terminals or just could not make it over the road. Over 24 hours out
of Creston and still no Lincoln in sight?

Things will change,

The VLBG

Just a quick update on todays rail business conditions. In a word it stinks.
Not sure about all commodities but take it from somebody involved every day
in chemicals, food products, oils, and plastics. Things are bad and getting
worst. Over capacity in both railcar and plant production capacity of the
commodities are rampant everywhere. Loadings are falling, lease rates are
dropping, ever company has excess cars, the parking lots are full to
overflowing and layoffs are plentiful 'if they haven't hit the carriers
they're sure to soon. Its a real traditional recession setting in.
