LyleThey would have been in mail storage service..... there were no RPO conversions (the cars would not meet the postal regulations) and there was no shortage of RPO cars after WWII as far as I know.

Lyle, As Charlie answered, the BE1's (the converted troop kitchens) were used by the Q to haul storage mail and express. They were most commonly seen at the head end of passenger trains. Since the Q
