I can't confirm or deney your infromation about putting the lift sapn in place.i do know the lift span is sitting onbarges on the sout side of the current bridge towards the illinios shore.span 6 is

they only reason those barges got wedge under the bridge is the fact the river was above flood stage which is 15' here. normal river levels is 7' - 8' Bill Ewinger   What about the ones that got loos

Then there was the problem with the sailboats during the summer wanting thru. Course they always showed up at train time. Some would drop the mast to get thru with out a delay Steve in SC on the way

The Ottumwa sub dispatcher has just given two westbounds out of Galesburg clearance through Burlington. Bridge is single tracked and dispatcher gave 9941 assurance that the bridge is sound. Of course
