- Chris, The NPRHA has a database of all BN locomotives that went into the merger. Some have renumbered dates but it is worth a look at. http://www.nprha.org/Equipment/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2

- Not exactly what yo are asking for but from the merger into the mid 1970s there was some overlap of unit numbers with 2 or more of the former RRs having units with the same number. This is a problem

- That happened again with the BNSF merger. One solution someone found was to assign both units to the same train. The example I remember being noted in Trains was 4004 and 4004. They were an ATSF GP50
