Thread-topic: [CBQ] E's mued to F's?
Interesting to see the E7’s elephant style with the GP’s. I would have thought that they would run back to back.

I'll agree that the Burlington probably never ran their F3Bs with E-units in passenger service.  However, a few E5s and E7s did run in freight service toward the end of their careers.  Here's a shot of two E7s leading a freight train at Aurora in 1967: https://www.flickr.com/photos/chuckzeiler/17753586579/in/album-72157667123993396  While it's still unlikely that any E-units ran with an F3B in freight service, it's at least remotely plausible.

Hello, I'm new to the group. My friend Steve Woods passed away and left me with his n scale collection. He was a big fan of the Burlington. I model in Proto48 but decided to put together a small n scale layout. He loved passenger trains and so I have lots of E5's, 7's and 8's. He had a single F3B. Not certain what to do with it. I asked AI if the Burlington ever ran a F3's with the E's and received an answer that it was impossible because the MU wiring is different and because the E's had two prime movers and the F only one. Obviously AI is not the one to turn to. Any thoughts?
