|
The Q used a number of sets of F units ABA on the California Zephyr from its delivery in 1949 until EMD had capacity post WW2 to deliver E units. They were in Silver/Aluminium and had 9xxx numbers
They were regeared for freight and I assume steam boilers removed, repainted to grey but kept their 9xxx numbers.
Kato did the silver set for its CZ sets and also the units in greyback livery
There will be those with way more knowledge than me on the group.
The BRHS photo collection has images of the F units in Silver and Greyback livery

My friend Steve Woods passed away and left me with his n scale collection. He was a big fan of the Burlington. I model in Proto48 but decided to put together a small n scale layout. He loved passenger trains and so I have lots
of E5's, 7's and 8's. He had a single F3B. Not certain what to do with it. I asked AI if the Burlington ever ran a F3's with the E's and received an answer that it was impossible because the MU wiring is different and because the E's had two prime movers and
the F only one. Obviously AI is not the one to turn to. Any thoughts?
