Around the same time, the station signs went from a black background with white RR Roman lettering to white background with black with a more "blockish" lettering style around the same time.  Note the poorly executed Highlands sign.  Nothing like planning ahead...  Definitely early '60's, but certainly not a priority for the railroad.
