Hello All The CB&Q F units from the FTs all the way up to the F-7s had the red strips framed in black the only ones that didn't run the full length of the car body were the F-3 phase 2 (modelers term) were the ones with the chicken wire between the portholes then EMD went from chicken wire to lovers between the portholes so at this point they were able to paint threw the lovers then moving on to the phase 4 all the chicken wire was replaced with the lovers between the port holes and stainless steel grills for the air intakes.
