Rupert:
To expand on Bill Hurt's information, the reduction in car capacity at Peruque, from 100 cars to 98 and then 94, was probably on account of a change in the standards for calculating car capacity, and not relocation of the turnouts. In 1940 capacity was calculated
using 44' cars and 130' for steam engine and waycar, plus extra for braking and distance from point of switches to clearance points. By 1946, 46' was used for standard car length and 240' for 5,400 hp diesel and waycar. Both sets of the above standards would
calculate out to a siding of about 5,100'.
I have a right of way map of this area, but unfortunately the siding (Side Track 1) has been removed. The stub track (Side Track 2) is shown with turnout at MP 42.810, opening to the east. The turnout is a #11 with electric lock (standard for a hand-throw
turnout in CTC territory). The track is shown as 427' in length, which would calculate to a capacity of 4 cars. The map was updated in 1956 with a note that 927' of the track was removed. Adding these two lengths together equals 1,354' which somewhat makes
sense with a 19 car capacity.
If you are looking for a history of the length of Peruque siding, and not in a hurry, I could review all of the timetables at the Newberry (which would cover the time from when this line was built up to 1939) next April when I plan to visit there during the
Spring BRHS meet.

Rupert,
Hannibal Division Employee Timetable 77 effective April 28, 1940, shows Peruque had a 100 car siding and 24 car Other Track capacity. (Mu oldest Hannibal Division timetable).
I do not have Hannibal Division Employee Timetables 78, 80, 81, and 82.
Hannibal Division Employee Timetable 83 effective November 15, 1942, shows Peruque had 98 car siding and 24 car Other Track capacity.
I do not have Hannibal Division Employee Timetables 84 and 86.
Hannibal Division Employee Timetable 87 effective May 26, 1946, shows Peruque had a 94 car siding and 19 car Other Track capacity.
Hannibal Division Employee Timetable 89 effective September 28, 1947, still shows Peruque had a 94 car siding and 19 car Other Track capacity.
Hannibal Division Emplyee Timetable 90 effective July 11, 1948, shows Perque no longer has a siding and has a 19 car Other Track capacity. This timetable shows the next station south of Peruque, Seeburger, had it's siding lengthened from 84 cars on Timetable
89 to 140 cars. Also the station north of Peruque was Fiirma (MP 46.5) was no longer listed and replaced by Gibbs (MP 44.4). Gibbs is listed as having 140 car siding replacing the 69 car siding at Firma. This is last station prior to Old Monroe. Timetable
90 also shows CTC is now in effect from north switch of siding at Old Monroe and Machens interlocking.
Hannibal Division Employee Timetable 95 effective January 31, 1954, still shows Peruque with a 19 car Other Track capacity.
Hannibal Division Employee Timetable 96 effective April 24, 1955, shows Peruque now has 4 car Other Track capacity.
Hannibal Division Employee Timetable 1 effective April 30, 1961, no longer shows Peruque as a station.

Thanks very much for this. Would anyone have an earlier record so that I can get a broader picture?

Peruque shows in Hannibal Div. #2 April 29, 1962 Other Tracks; MP 42.9 Capacity 4 cars
I’m trying to find out the car capacity of the tracks at Peruque, Missouri, which are shown on a 1939 plat map. This is on the old StLK&NW tracks
from St Louis / West Alton to Old Munroe / Cuivre Junction and on to Burlington.
I suspect that the track(s) was originally laid in about 1902.
Would any one have an employee timetable or an early alignment chart which might assist me?
Thank you.
