That's still the goal. I visited with Greg Vreeland last weekend and work is progressing on the truck rebuilds now that the spring packs have arrived. The engine swap will occur later this year once temperatures warm up. One of the main issues they've encountered is staffing. They've had trouble getting people to work and once the trains start running, it has been all hands on deck for those and the folks working on the MTZ get pulled to work the trains. His goal is still this fall, but it may not be until next spring.

I can give you a more accurate answer later, but the 500 was given the name while in the ownership of John C. Lowe and two other individuals who formed the Mark Twain Corporation, which was headed by Mr. Ronald Lorenzini. They took ownership late in 1987.

Does anyone know when dinette-chair car #500 (ex-Pioneer Zephyr) was renamed Effie Dean. Was it when the Mark Twain Zephyr went to Wisconsin Great Northern?
