Nelson,

As I said in my previous email, Lake States has an enormous photo archive that can be searched for all sorts of details.  When you buy a download, you can zoom in on the details in great depth due to the excellent photos and wonderful scans.

Both of these boxes are a dark color, most likely Indian Red.

I found the photo of the phone booth at the grade crossing, and it’s silver or white. My memory was faulty. Does anyone know of other photos of phone boxes prion to BN?

Rich and others,
Attached are photos of the Line Side Telephone Box.  In the front view, you can make out the letters for telephone.
The box is made of 3/4 inch plywood, has metal corners on the bottom four corners, and a metal wrapped top which is attached with nails on the sides of the top.

Measurements as follows:
  • Top        18"x24"
  • Front      33"x22"
  • Back      29 1/2"x22"
  • Sides     33"x29 1/2"x15 1/2"
It appears to have been white at one time and now silver.  There is no hint of a darker paint anywhere.  This came off of the Galesburg Mainline to my knowledge.

Tom
