One advantage to having that split right of way is when you have a bomb train blow up, there is still a track that can be used. The NS train to Des Moines is usually parked on the north siding in New London behind our house for a day or two. Last year it even had the Wabash heritage loco which was appropriate. Now we are stuck with a train of empty well cars that has been stored there for awhile - boring. My future wife was the first permanent Cargill employee in Eddyville.
