I'm more awake now and taking a more critical look at it. A major clue
to consider is the sloping ground, not only on the left but also quite
likely on the opposite side of the tracks, as indicated by the pole that
appears to be based below track level. I think the Zephyr is coming off
of an embankment somewhere. I think that pretty much rules out the C&I
anywhere in Kane County. But I'm not sure where it would be on the
Mainline either. I'm trying to decide whether the buildings visible
between the trains make it somewhere in Aurora or not (there could be a
third track not visible, but I don't think so). I think if it was just
west of the Aurora station, there would be more clues.

Then look at the poles and cross arms in the first photo photo in the listing . Note how many more wires and cross arms than in the C&I photos. That’s a pretty good clue it’s on the double track mainline that needed a lot more wires to handle signals and communication.Leo PhillippOn Aug 3, 2022, at 1:55 PM, Tom Mack via groups.io <thommack=yahoo.com@groups.io> wrote:There are a bunch of late 1960's CB&Q slides and photos posted on eBay right now from Chicago to Sugar Grove. I am hoping some of the locations can be better identified. The following photo on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144606279416 is marked simply as "Kane County, IL", which includes Aurora, IL. Does anyone recognize this spot? Might this be the C&I around MP 39 where the two westbound lines that come out of Aurora merge together to single track? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
