I confirmed at least one location and a feature that indicates the C&I. Here is the photo that I thought was probably the switch where the westbound double track goes down to a single track around 39.23 which the track chart also shows as being at Terry Ave: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134146800205 I went to Google maps and sure enough, the building in the background is still there! Here is a good shot where you can clearly see the high window/vent opening and where the roof trusses are (still!) exposed as shown in the photo from almost 45 years ago: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.7456025,-88.3445775,3a,15y,78.7h,86.55t/data=""> Looking at the 1968 photo, upper left, you can see just the tips of three cross arms. So the C&I line had three cross arms on the poles. As Leo pointed out, in the photo at https://www.ebay.com/itm/144606279416 there are "many more wires and cross arms than in the C&I photos. That’s a pretty good clue it’s on the double track mainline that needed a lot more wires to handle signals and communication." This means, however, that the photo at https://www.ebay.com/itm/144606326197 is apparently on the single track C&I west of Terry Avenue. Note the three cross arms. The three cross arms are also seen all the way out at Sugar Grove: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144604918615 Note even the insulator counts are the same in the last two photos - from top to bottom, 4-4-5 on each side of the pole. -- Tom Mack Cincinnati, OH _._,_._,_ Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
