The attached letter is part of the BRHS Archives. The CB&Q RR Passenger department memo details operations of two sections for Train #47 in 1962. It discusses that the Blackhawk/Western Star combined would be the first section. The Mainstreeter would be the second section.
Please keep in mind that this is not a normal operation. It’s early June, and summer vacations are starting. Also, in 1962, the Seattle World’s Fair was in operation from April 21 to October 21. There’s a lot of cars bound for Seattle in both sections.

Subject: [CBQ] 2022 01 Q about Chi-StP Western Star/Mainstreeter
25 JAN 2022 FROM: Jim Gattis G4Trains@gmail.com (presented at last Oct joint convention in St Louis)
I'm preparing an article about Western passenger trains in 1950s, noticed that in 29 May 1955 schedule between Chicago and St Paul, Western Star/Mainstreeter/Black Hawn had same number 47, 48 and times. Do you know if the three “names” were a single train, or if they were operated in separate sections, or ??? thank you PS – Do you mind if I quote you in the article?
