Aaron,

Check the public or employee passenger timetables for the time frame from the 
early 1950s through the mid 1960s. The Twin Zephyrs, during that time period, 
held the scheduled train speed record for start to stop runs in the U.S. Some 
time tables are available in the BRHS Flickr gallery in the members only 
portion of the website. Don Steffee used to write an annual report in Trains 
Magazine analyzing all of the higher scheduled speed runs in the U.S. If you 
subscribe to Trains, all of their back issues are available to you. An employee 
time table will show the actual speed limits set for each portion of the RR. At 
one time, some of the start to stop portions of the TCZ run was scheduled at 86 
mph which meant that the train’s actual speed had to be somewhat higher over 
that portion of the RR. The Q’s E5s and some of their E7’s were equipped with 
52:25 gear ratios that gave them a top speed of 117 mph.
