Thanks Jim! From what I have learned, even since writing the message, the C&S U30C units were definitely not phase I. The Q however had U28C's, but they were quite different in body details and trucks (more like U25C's). Interesting, looks like the Atlas phase I units are inappropriate for either. Thank you!

The Phase I U30B/C used the late U28 car body. The Phase 2 had a wider radiator section and a flared cowling between the engine room and the radiator. Here are similar shots of the two versions as a comparison. Jim Sandrin
Hey all...I know the Q proper did not own any U30C's, but C&S owned four units. Atlas is releasing the U30C phase I soon...might anyone here offer conjecture as to what a "phase I" might be, as opposed to other phases of the same locomotive? Many thanks!
