If so any resin or 3D printed roofs would probably need to be done as a single piece or as two pieces - end covers and center cover. Some of the roofs, such as Chuck Zeiler's photo of 83441 and what you can see of the roof of the trailing gondola 833xx in Jim Sandrin's model photos, have running boards. Assuming these were three piece roofs, if you did a single piece roof you would probably still want to do breaks in the running boards to simulate the separate running boards on each section, or a modeler could cut through a single piece running board if it were a cast or printed on piece. Does anyone know, assuming these were three piece roofs, if they interlocked in any way? In other words, did they have to be taken off in a certain order? There appears to be nothing stenciled on the cars in that regard, just notes to remind people to lock the roofs on after they are in position on the car. Looking at the latching arrangement, there is only on pair of latches (one each side) on the roof ends sections, and two pairs (two each side on the center section. That would almost imply you put the end sections on first and locked them, then put the center section on and when you locked it down it held the center and end sections in place. This all assumes, of course, that the roof was three pieces, not a single piece with four latches per side. -- Tom Mack Cincinnati, OH _._,_._,_ Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
