I've been researching the C&I from Oregon to Forreston, on and off, for several years. I ran across an interesting photo in a local history book on Forreston railroads, which shows a Northern Pacific 0-6-0 switcher (#906) in service at Forreston. An NP roster and the photo identify the engine as of the L6 class. The caption says, "Local yard engine used in Forreston in the 1920's by the CB&Q." There are five Q emplyees standing alongside it. I would not have thought there was enough business in Forreston in the 1920's to warrent a dedicated switch engine. But the question is, what is an NP engine doing in Q service? Any guesses?
