Attached are a couple of photos of my kitbatch/scratchbuild attempts to re-create late 1960s GE three-axle truck sideframes for Burlington family units. When modeling the units, it also appeared to me that the C&S GE U30Cs had similar truck configurations with the double clasp brake shoe configuration. My U23C rendition is an Athearn blue box U30C modified with Q-specific details and hood door modifications. I believe I started this before the Atlas version was available (decades ago). I used the truck sideframes that looked the closest, cleaned off factory brake details, then grafted on (Athearn) SD9 brake clasp details, added separate brake cylinders and piping, and scratch-built the chain pulley through my interpretation of photos. Please excuse the (hideous) green rendition; the unit looks much better in person. The U30C rendition is a factory painted Atlas unit with some additional detailing, particularly the truck rework I finished a couple years ago. The truck detailing took the same approach as on the U23C: use the factory supplied sideframe, clean off details, then graft/hang appropriate brake appliances, and adding the scratch-built chain system. Happy modeling! Tim Wells _._,_._,_ Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. View/Reply Online (#61149) | Reply To Group | Reply To Sender | Mute This Topic | New Topic _._,_._,_
