Bryan - I've attached two good images of the Chapin, IL, depot from the BRHS Members Only Section Flickr Page. Chaplin has got to be the correct location. Also, reportedly it's Train No. 47, not 48 as I stated yesterday. In the one image, there appears to be a "smash board" at far right, either for a grade crossing or interlocking - Louis

Bryan - I shared the photo with Barry Huff in Galesburg. He's a retired CBQ-BN-BNSF locomotive engineer. Barry ID'd the location as Chapin, IL, and the passenger train as No. 48. Can anyone else comment? - Louis

Today's (10-27) Photo of the Day is of E7 No. 9928A at an unknown depot. I did some poking around on aerial maps of Illinois and then down the K-Line to see if there were any crossings like shown in the photo, but have come up short. Does anyone have an idea of where we are at or perhaps what train we are looking at? The consist appears to be a former troop sleeper, then a bag or bag/RPO with a coach or two on the rear. http://www.burlingtonroute.org/BRHS/photo_library/photo_features/historical/browse_categories/viewer.php?cat_code=CATN&photo_num=100309 Thanks!
