To all who have been so generous in sharing your knowledge, I wish to thank you.  I'm not used to blogs and replying and knowing who I'm replying to and there have been so many contributors I'm not sure who I've thanked.  Just wanted to catch up and make sure everyone knows I'm grateful and astounded at the knowledge base out there!  Louis...I joined the BRHS on the 11th in response to all the help.   This darned Coronavirus thing has me leery of even going to a hardware store for paint but I will start on the caboose resoration this summer.  I figure the first order is to get a new coat of paint on it to protect it from the elements, then get the windows in and the plywood off!

Louis - your comment about the waycar being a long way from home reminds me of the trip from Boulder, CO to Grand Junction, CO when it was moved.  Due to the excessive height of the caboose on the double drop lowboy trailer, the waycar could not go through the Eisenhower tunnel on Interstate 70.  The clearance on that tunnel is a little over 13 feet while the waycar on the trailer was over 15 feet high so the truck driver had to go over Loveland Pass , crossing the Continental Divide at 11,991 feet, surely the only time the waycar has been that high and the only time it's been on the Pacific side of the Continental Divide!  I've attached a photo of her at the top of Loveland Pass.

Also, Louis, the notion of adding the corner pockets is an intriguing one and I do have some woodworking skills.  I wonder, since the waycar started as an Atchison and Nebraska car, is there any idea if they would have had the corner pockets on this particular car?
