Scott and Nancy
Well, y’all will probably be able to do that after Mother’s Day….
….down here the snow has the decency to melt once we’ve enjoyed looking at it out the window over morning coffee.
On a related subject, has anyone verified the accuracy of the measuring tools on cell phones for such work? If the measurements are good enough for making building measurements, especially for hard to get a tape on locations such as overhanging eaves and out of reach wall heights, etc.. it would be a boon to making field measurements. I haven’t researched if there is a way of capturing the image with the dimensions on it…that would be pretty neat.
The depot at Thompson would be another one that might be a good one to measure.
Thanks,

Subject: Re: [CBQ] Depot question follow up
Nancy and I are about an hour from Pepin. We've been by the depot (now in the park) multiple times. If the request can hold off until we don't need snow shoes, we could get some pictures and probably some measurements for you.
All-
If anyone has dimensions of a typical CB&N depot or CB&Q depot derived from CB&N plans (like LaVergne) I am looking for a project to draw up with the thought of trying our craft cutter to cut out walls, roofs and windows to build one.
Unfortunately Lavergne is one of the depots that I don’t have a diagram page for. From photos it originally had a deep hip roof characteristic of the CB&N depots; later cut back to a more modest overhang sometime during the 1930s or perhaps a little earlier. The best information I have says it was built in 1889 and remodeled in 1917…which may be when it lost part of the roof overhang.
Absent good drawings or field measurements I probably can make a decent approximation of the Lavergne depot from what information I have but would prefer to work off of something more substantial if it is available instead of waiting for the source material to come out after the drawings are made and the model built….
Thanks,
