I find it amazing that someone was out there taking photos.  It was probably roll film as it would be difficult to set up a tripod on snow.  Large format such as 120 or 116 capture a lot of detail.  Exposures with snow are difficult enough.  Without this photography, this topic wouldn't be discussed.  Someone back then made a lot of people happy today.
