Charlie -

A couple of points.  A lot of the AFE's have drawings attached.  These are often marked-up prints.  Some are new drawings but assigned the AFE number.  I am recording which AFE's have drawings and what the drawing number is (even if it's just the AFE number).  Drawings are being left with the AFE's.

I've done 75 AFE's to date.  They range from 1917 to 1955 (so far).  I want to go back over the 1922 dates and make a note of which ones clearly survived the fire.

Thank you for your update and work on the herculean task of cataloging the BRHS Archives material.

 

AFEs should be a rich resource for researchers as nothing happened on the railroad without such paperwork.  At one point they would have had drawings attached to them but just the text justifying expenditures may fill in blanks in the record.  Hopefully some of the AFEs will date prior to the 1922 Burlington Building fire.
