On July 20, 1969, my wife and I along with our 1-1/2 year old daughter were
visiting the Illinois Railway Museum in Union. As the time for the landing
approached, we went into town to a bar (I don’t remember the name}, had some
refreshments and watch the event on the TV there with a few other patrons and
the bartender. Later, we headed home to Downers Grove and continued watching
the activities there. In subsequent years, every visit that we have made to the
IRM, we always reflect on that day.
