As an FYI CB&Q 9116 is in a GN wheel report on Train 82 on
04-16-1968. It is listed as a B8, which is code for a "40' Box w/
Door Opening Larger than 12'" (i.e. double-door 40' boxcar). Load
is listed as PLY (plywood), station/junction is QNWACY (CB&Q
to N&W in Chicago to AC&Y), with final destination as
GEOPACIFI (Georgia Pacific) in Indianapolis, IN. Don't know thy
the station/junction includes ACY since it would seem routing
could be much more direct from Chicago to Indianapolis.
During this time, the shipper could chose the route the load
would travel. Even though this car was billed to Georgia Pacific
in Indianapolis, I would not surprised that it was a "roller car"
that was still hoping to be sold before reaching it's warehouse
destination. Roller cars took indirect routes to their "final
destination" in the hope the load could be sold by a broker en
route. The C&NW Historical Society Northwestern Modeler Volume
9 Number 2 had a good description of roller cars and some of
shipper's favored routes on the C&NW. Branch lines with
service only a few times a week that connected to a mainline at
each end were favorites of roller car shippers.
Here is a car from a 1965 teletype consist from train LW68 for
the Lincoln to Creston portion:

My research indicated these were CB&Q Class XA-16. Anyone know
if this is correct?
That is correct.
