39288 (later 9288) was built at Havelock in 1946 as part of the group 39000-39499. In 1954, 100 cars had their Evans auto loaders removed and auxiliary doors sealed and, between 1956 and 1962, the remaining cars  were similarly rebuilt, at which point the first digit was removed from the number and they were reclassified as XM. The line of brown paint above “CB&Q” on the side covers up the word “Automobile”.
As an FYI CB&Q 9116 is in a GN wheel report on Train 82 on 04-16-1968. It is listed as a B8, which is code for a "40' Box w/ Door Opening Larger than 12'" (i.e. double-door 40' boxcar). Load is listed as PLY (plywood), station/junction is QNWACY (CB&Q to N&W in Chicago to AC&Y), with final destination as GEOPACIFI (Georgia Pacific) in Indianapolis, IN. Don't know thy the station/junction includes ACY since it would seem routing could be much more direct from Chicago to Indianapolis.

My research indicated these were CB&Q Class XA-16. Anyone know if this is correct?
