You mean this photo? Again taken of a photo hanging on the wall in the Stockport depot. It shows Earl Smutz sitting at the desk inside the van. Michael John’s book “Remembering Southeast Iowa’s Peavine” also has a photo takin in 1979 showing the van next to the depot at Stockport.
Audrey Dunn was the depot agent at Stockport until she retired in July of 1971, and the depot was closed. This may be when Earl Smutz and the van took over agent duties at Stockport. The line was abandoned in Feb 1980 after the failure of the Prairie View Grain Co of Stockport in Jan 1980.

There was a second photo showing Smulz working inside the van. As this photo was 1972, I wonder when were these vans purchased. Even if this was a CB&Q van originally, it is still interesting to see both CB&Q and BN logos on the same vehicle.

Rupert, attached is a photo of Earl Smutz, CBQ depot agent at Stockport and Birmingham IA in 1972. It shows him using a “portable” office, which consists of a Ford Econoline van. Earl’s office has a sliding door vs the double hinged doors. Birmingham and Stockport were on a small branchline in SE Iowa that was worked out of Fort Madison. Earl was agent at both depots and was assigned the office van so he could be on site when the train moved from one town to the other.
The photo is not the best as it was a snapshot of a framed photo hanging on the wall inside the Stockport Depot, which is now a small museum.
Ok, thanks. Perhaps that is the answer. Can anyone confirm that the CB&Q had any of these vans?

It's a second generation Ford Econoline - same basic body style was used from 1968-1974.

Just a guess since I don’t know when the photo was taken. Could this have been taken right after the merger and they slapped the BN sticker on the Q customer service van?
