I have the June 1929 public timetable and it, too, includes the Empire Builder. I have copied pages 11-12 and 27-28 here, and the condensed schedule on pages 11-12 gives absolutely no indication of the inauguration date of the Empire Builder, though
it does carry a note for the Yellowstone Comet, an NP train, stating "Special summertime flyer commencing June 18." The detailed schedule on pages 27-28 carries a note for No. 44, the southbound Empire Builder, that it is a "New daily train effective June
13." But there is no similar note for the northbound train, No. 49. Note 2 on those pages, for No.50, the North Coast Limited, says, "First trip from Minneapolis June 11."

Charlie:
I have a public timetable for July-August 1929 that lists both the Empire Builder and Oriental Limited. It is listed without fan-fare in the Condensed Schedule between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest as well as on the Chicago to St. Paul - Minneapolis detailed
page. I cannot find anywhere in this timetable any indication of the specific date of the start of the service.
The timetable I have previous to this one is July-August 1928, and it lists only the Oriental Limited.
Perhaps another timetable between the above two might contain an announcement page of the pending train.

Subject: [CBQ] Public Timetable that covers the Introduction of the Empire Builder
CB&Qers….
Scott Tanner of the GNRHS has asked me what CB&Q public timetable covered the introduction of the Empire Builder whose first Westbound trip was on June 10, 1929.
Passenger Timetables have not been of direct interest to me as my research is currently on the Aurora-Chicago line and I am trying to set the dates of establishment and discontinuance of depots and their MP locations using Employee Timetables.
I do know that there was a Chicago & Aurora Division Employee Timetable No. 59 issued June 9, 1929 which likely was the basis for the public timetable which was probably published before it in order to promote the new service.
Does anyone have a list of public timetables that would tell what issue date covers the introduction of the Empire Builder?
Thanks,
Charlie Vlk
