Wooten firebox discussion:  extremely interesting and informative; fuel size, 
availability, cost, BTUs, and flammability (or whatever term is applied to 
actually coaxing a fuel to actually ignite and burn).  I believe that the 
Southern Pacific also had at least one such locomotive. I will inquire of my SP 
steam expert colleague Dr. Bob Church.

Re: Bulletin Besler DRI article:  Wow!   That had completely slipped my mind, 
and I probably would not have recalled it without being reminded.  I will have 
to reference it if only because I probably wrote down more then than I could 
possibly dredge up out of mind now.

Water pans:  I may be hallucinating (again), but in the back of my mind I seem 
to recall somewhere in my past a framed photo of a CBQ locomotive c. early 
1900’s over such pans, presumably somewhere Chicago-Aurora. But……?
