I have had this problem with Excel files before. I have a tendency to forget the tab.
If it is a spreadsheet for a proposed curriculum I look for the tabs right away. But out of that context I seem forget it.

Try changing the tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet. I suspect
you are on the Notes tab and need to flip over to the Index
tab.
