Hi Daryl and list, Regarding your message # 54372: I'm 64, and growing up I was able to ride a number of intercity passenger trains, on several railroads, but especially on the Milwaukee Road and C&NW in Wisconsin. But my first long distance train trip occurred in 1967 on the CB&Q, with my Mother, from Aurora to Denver on the Denver Zephyr My Mom loved trains, and we spent most of the night up in the dome car, watching the block signals change from green to red, and the Mars light flickering up ahead on the E units. After a few weeks in Denver, we returned to Aurora on the California Zephyr. The following year, 1968, after a family wedding in Iowa, I rode MILW/UP's City of Denver from Marion, IA to Denver, returning to Aurora later on the Denver Zephyr. I ended up riding over 500+ trains over the years after that, but memories of riding those Burlington trains, through places like Burlington, Ottumwa, Omaha, Lincoln, Hastings, McCook and Denver are still very much in my memory.
