Hol: I have a photo of 9151 in the simplified scheme with the sill safety striping (white on black) with a location in Ft. Madison, IA, no beacon (1969). I have a photo of 9152 showing a beacon ("gumball") with a labeled location of Kansas City in March 1970 as well as post renumbering photos with a beacon. Interestingly, a 1972 photo shows a different beacon ("flattop"). Sorry, I don't think I can post the photos since I found them on the internet at various times. Since I have not seen a photo of 9142 in the simplified scheme, could you download it? Thanks, Tim Wells >>Keith: I've checked photos and can find no SW1s with beacons. The two most likely candidates were 9136 and 9142, the only two SW1s to be repainted into the simplified switcher scheme of black, gray and white. Both were repainted in 1969, and 9136 was assigned to Lincoln, where the Nebraska law would have presumably impacted it. But both of these locomotives made it to the BN roster without beacons.
