Hol,

Thank you for responding with your helpful information.  If you find evidence of an SW1 with a beacon I would appreciate knowing.  Did the beacon rotate in a 360 degree circle or did it go on and off?  Thanks again.

1968 was the first year beacons were applied, and the Alco S2s and BLW VO1000s were all gone by then, so none of them got beacons.  It's possible that one or more Nebraska-based SW1s got them, but I haven't checked photos to make a more definite determination.

Did any other type of Burlington switchers have a beacon light on the cab such as the VO-1000, SW1 or Alco S2?  Did the beacon light go on and off, or did it rotate 360 degrees? Thank you.

John:

Nebraska was the first Q state to require beacons, and that law didn't take effect until 1968.  So very few switchers ever got beacons, but I've attached an image of one.

My cut off date in modeling the Q is 1965, and I have never seen a photo of a switcher with a beacon on the cab roof.  My question then is, did I miss something or they never had them ?
