In a previous thread from 15-OCT-2015, Jim Olson stated that the following photo gel plastic film was equivalent in color to Railway Classics' blue-green tinted Proto Correct window tint plastic (which is no longer available): Rosco CalColor #4330 Cyan 30 Availability: 20" x 24" sheets OR 48" x 25' roll Material: either Polycarbonate (3-5 mil thickness) or Polyester (1.42, 2.0, or 2.5 mil thickness) www.rosco.com I ordered a couple of sheets to experiment with rom B&H Photo Supply (www.bhphotovideo.com). I plan to use it as window tinting for the side windows of several 15" (60') & 18" (70') O-scale plated aluminum Zephyr cars from Lionel, K-Line, MTH, Weaver, & Williams. I have the following questions about this material: 1. The Rosco spec sheet states that each CalColor film is made from either polycarbonate or polyester, depending on the specific color. The spec sheet does not state the specific material (Polycarbonate or Polyester) for CalColor #4330 Cyan 30. Does anyone know which material it is made of ? 2. What brands & types of glue are compatible & effective with CalColor #4330 Cyan 30 ? I will be gluing it to the inside of the aluminum car shells and also to the model's frosted plastic silhouette window strips. Does clear Canopy glue work with this material ? 3. Jim Olson had previously stated that this CalColor #4330 Cyan 30 material is more flimsy than the Proto Correct plastic. Is it possible to make a laminate "sandwich" of the Cal Color #4330 Cyan 30 between two sheets of clear hobby plastic (in order to create a less flimsy & more rigid material) ? 4. Is the material a good or poor choice for tinting the vista dome windows ? 5. Are there better methods than glue for attachment of this material to the inside of aluminum car bodies ? 6. Any other suggestions for modeling with this material ? Thanks in advance for your responses. Bill H __._,_.___ Posted by: cbq_bill@sbcglobal.net __,_._,___ |
